TotalelectricityconsumptioninIndiacrossed1300bil lionunitsbyFY2022,ata5.3% CAGR overthepreceedingdecadefromFY2012.Wehavetriedtobringoutthevariation/paternsin theelectricityconsumptionacrossvariousstatesandconsumercategoriesovertheyears throughtheanalysispresentedhere.

Thedashboardsareinteractive,andwilshowadditionalinformationonhoveringthemouse overtheplots.Hoveringonaxesincertainplotsshowsabutontochangethestatesorting.

Thefirst8interactivedashboardshavestate-wiseanalysisofthedecadalchangein electricityconsumption.Later2dashboardsareexploratoryinnature.Thestateexplorer alowsuserstoselectastateandviewtrendsanddetailsofelectricityconsumptionwithin theselectedstate.Thecategoryexploreralowstheusertoselectacategory,andview states’sharesinthedecadalchangeintheselectedcategory.

-India’selectricityconsumptiongrewataCAGRof5.3% Demandforthedomesticsectorgrewthehighest(7.1%)folowedbyAgriculture(4.9%)andIndustry (4.7%). -Consumercategorywiseshareinthetotalelectricityconsumptionhasremainedmoreorless constantoverthelast10years. -ElectricityconsumptioninFY2022grew at7.7% overFY2021,indicatingarecoveryfrom COVID-19 induceddemandsuppression.

-InFY2021-22,Industrycontributedto44% ofthetotalelectricityconsumptionfolowedbythe Domesticcategory(24%)andAgriculture 18% India’stotalelectricityconsumptiongrewby532BUoverthedecade,withIndustry(39%) contributingthehighestfolowedbytheDomestic(32%)andAgriculture(16%)categories
