Dhamma Energy Mexico is Awarded 440 MW of Photovoltaic Capacity in Hidalgo – renewableenergymagazine.com

The projects, named Hidalgo 1, Hidalgo 2 and Hidalgo 3, represent a total nominal capacity of 440 MW and will be developed as adjacent facilities connected to a single interconnection point, optimizing the integration of new renewable capacity into Mexico’s National Power System.
The commercial operation date (COD) of the projects is scheduled between June and December 2028, in line with the timelines established in the call and with the binding planning of the power system.
The award marks the culmination of more than seven years of continuous development work, during which Dhamma Energy Mexico has made a firm commitment to the state of Hidalgo as a strategic region for the growth of the power system, characterized by its industrial dynamism and increasing energy demand.
The projects will make a significant contribution to:
In this context, the Group’s management highlights the strategic relevance of this award for the power system and for the company’s long-term presence in Mexico.
“This award is the result of more than seven years of technical work and ongoing dialogue with the authorities, and it reflects the confidence of the Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Energy (SENER), in projects that deliver real value to the National Power System. Hidalgo is a key region to meet growing demand and strengthen system reliability,” said Pierre-Yves Gary, LATAM Managing Director.
Dhamma Energy Mexico’s projects, which are expected to reach Ready-to-Build (RTB) status in the first quarter of 2026, are located in the Central region of the Mexican power system, one of the priority areas for strengthening the reliability, security and continuity of the national electricity supply. In the first 2025 Private Power Generation Call, Dhamma Energy achieved 80% coverage of the capacity available for award in this region, reflecting its strategic relevance in meeting electricity demand.
In this context, the three photovoltaic projects awarded to Dhamma Energy Mexico represent the entirety of the capacity approved in the Central region, positioning the company as the sole awarded developer in this power system zone within the call promoted by the Government of Mexico through the Ministry of Energy (SENER).
The award confirms institutional confidence in projects that add value to the power system by contributing to the orderly integration of new renewable generation capacity, strengthening electrical infrastructure, and supporting national energy transition and energy justice objectives.
