A solar power project advances on Navajo land, despite local concerns – azcentral.com and The Arizona Republic

A solar power and battery storage project is moving forward in the Cameron and Coalmine Canyon chapters of the Navajo Nation, making a milestone in energy development for the tribe, but stirring concerns among nearby residents.
The Navajo Nation Council’s Resources and Development Committee approved a 4,500-acre lease in July, clearing the way for Painted Desert Power Solar Site LLC to construct and operate the project. Changes to the lease were approved earlier in January.
