Community solar site being built in East Peoria – 1470 & 100.3 WMBD

EAST PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – Another solar farm is coming to Tazewell County, and it could help residents save money on their electric bill.
The community solar site is being built at the corner of Springfield and Eisele Roads in East Peoria.
Tazewell County Community Development Administrator Jacklynn Workman tells 25 News that the site will be a five-megawatt community facility. People living near the site will be able to subscribe to the renewable energy source through the company, Generate Power, and earn credits on their electric bills.
“It would be a credit with each company,” Workman says. “[For] each product, it’s probably going to differ, but [it could be] a 15% savings on their utility bill.”
Workman says that people interested in subscribing can reach out to Generate Power to learn more.
She says the project is expected to take around six months to complete once ground has been broken.
Workman says Tazewell County is home to nine solar farms.
