Fujiyama Commissions One GW Solar Cell Plant at Dadri, Uttar Pradesh – Chemical Industry Digest

Fujiyama Power Systems, a rooftop solar solutions provider in India, commissioned a one GW solar cell manufacturing plant at Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant expansion of its domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Senior officials from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) inaugurated the new facility. This underscores its alignment with India’s push for domestic solar manufacturing. The commissioning represents a key milestone in Fujiyama’s growth strategy and reinforces its commitment to strengthening local supply chains.
Strategically located alongside Fujiyama’s existing manufacturing operations, the Dadri plant complements the company’s current 1.6 GW solar module capacity. Of this, 1.2 GW is already operational at the same site. Importantly, the newly commissioned solar cell capacity will be used entirely for captive consumption. It enables the company to enhance supply-chain security and reduce dependence on imported cells.
The Dadri facility will manufacture Mono PERC Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) solar cells. This will allow Fujiyama to cater more effectively to subsidy-linked domestic demand. This capability positions the company to benefit from government-supported rooftop and utility-scale solar programmes that prioritise locally manufactured components.
As reported by projectstoday.com, Fujiyama completed the project with an investment of ₹300 crore, funded through a combination of internal accruals and debt. The investment reflects the company’s confidence in the long-term growth of India’s solar market and its focus on deeper manufacturing integration.
Pawan Kumar Garg, Chairman and Joint Managing Director, said, “The commissioning of our solar cell manufacturing facility at Dadri represents a significant step in strengthening Fujiyama’s manufacturing integration and supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions.”
