The Albanese government will establish a national program to boost the reuse of Australia’s massive stock of solar panels after a major report found current recycling rates would waste essential critical minerals and lead to environmental damage.
More than one in three Australian households have installed solar panels on their roof over the past two decades, but the absence of a viable nationally co-ordinated reuse scheme has led to a recycling rate of just 17 per cent.
