The Wichita Falls City Council will consider rezoning parts of the city to accommodate construction of a data center and a solar farm when they meet Tuesday.
The council will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Seminar Room of the MPEC at 1000 Fifth St. The meeting is open to the public and will be livestreamed on the city’s Facebook page.
The panel will conduct a public hearing on an ordinance to rezone 188 acres of land primarily on Wellington Lane from single resident home to light industrial use for a solar array. A smaller property on Kiel Lane is also included.
A submitted map shows the land is on the northeast corner of the intersection of Wellington and Kiel lanes and is presently native range land.
The applicant for the zoning change is Wichita One, LLC, according to the council agenda.
Councilors will also conduct a public hearing on rezoning 98 acres of land northwest of the intersection of Interstate Highway 44 and Airport Drive for a data center, the agenda said. The applicant was Brad Altman, but there is no timeline for development.
