JinkoSolar has announced that its photovoltaic (PV) modules have received fire resistance certification from Istituto Giordano, a leading Italian technical institute specialising in product testing, certification, research, and engineering services. The certification confirms that the company’s solar modules meet stringent fire-safety standards for rooftop photovoltaic installations.
The modules achieved Reaction to Fire Class 1, the highest performance rating, under Italy’s 'Guide for the Installation of Photovoltaic Systems – 2012 Edition.' The guideline was issued by the Italian Ministry of Interior – Department of Firefighters, Public Rescue and Civil Defense to ensure that photovoltaic systems installed on rooftops do not contribute to the spread of fire during emergency situations.
Founded in 1959, Istituto Giordano is recognised globally for conducting independent testing and certification across multiple industries, including renewable energy technologies. Its fire-reaction testing evaluates how materials respond to ignition and flame propagation, a critical factor for rooftop solar systems integrated with building structures.
Commenting on the achievement, Kangping Chen, Chief Executive Officer of JinkoSolar, said that the certification demonstrates the company’s ability to deliver solar modules that combine high performance with strong safety standards. He noted that with installations across diverse global markets, the company continues to prioritise internationally recognised certifications to ensure the reliability and safety of its products in real-world operating conditions.
The certification strengthens JinkoSolar’s position in the global solar market by addressing safety concerns associated with rooftop PV systems and supporting wider adoption of solar energy technologies in residential and commercial applications.
