Holcim, a Switzerland-based cement and building materials company, has inaugurated a 31 MW floating PV park in Belgium. According to the report, the installation at Hainaut province, includes 55,000 panels and has been deployed on a quarry that was transformed into a lake near Holcim’s Obourg site. The floating PV structure has been stabilised using 128 anchors. Holcim said the 31 MW floating PV park will supply power to a factory under construction at Obourg. Vincent Michel, director of its GO4ZERO programme, said the installation will make the factory self-sufficient on sunny days and cover 15% of the site’s annual power requirements at the Obourg site.
