According to Power Technology, the Dodson Creek Solar Project in Highland County, Ohio, has entered commercial operation. The 117-megawatt facility is located within the PJM Interconnection market and is anticipated to contribute an estimated $49 million to the local economy.
During peak construction, the project engaged 125 workers. Kiewit Power Constructors served as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the development. The solar installation utilizes Series 7 photovoltaic modules manufactured by First Solar at its Perrysburg, Ohio, complex.
Over its initial two decades of operation, the project is forecast to provide roughly $21 million in tax revenue for Highland County, supporting local townships, schools, and emergency services. Geronimo Power notes that with this project online, its total operational portfolio in Ohio now stands at 675 megawatts, representing an estimated $240 million in total economic benefit over the operating life of its projects.
Separately, Geronimo Power began construction on a 250-megawatt solar project in Portage County, Wisconsin, in July of last year.
