Blackman Township, Mich. (WILX) – Consumers Energy is sharing an update on the solar farm in Blackman Township.
The Blackman Solar farm is set to be built near County Road farm on Blackman Road.
Consumers says the site will benefit the local community by generating more than just electricity.
“Blackman Solar is going to provide the jobs to create this project that’s been going on currently… plus, in the long run, tax benefits for the community” said spokesperson Brian Wheeler.
“And in the long term, we’re going to be right here operating this project around the clock, generating energy that benefits the Jackson community.”
He says there are nearly 5,000 panels on 30 acres of land. The farm is expected to open in June.
