JA SOLAR is pleased to announce the upcoming edition of JA SOLAR Power Talk, the company’s global webinar series dedicated to exploring the latest innovations and success stories shaping the solar industry.
The next session, taking place on 18 December at 11:00AM (CET), will focus on one of Europe’s most remarkable achievements in renewable energy: the photovoltaic installation at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, home of Borussia Dortmund (BVB). The system has recently been officially recognized by the Rekord-Institut für Deutschland (RID) as the most powerful photovoltaic (PV) installation ever built on a stadium roof worldwide.
A World Record That Redefines Solar Integration in Sports
This groundbreaking project — developed through the collaboration of RWE and Borussia Dortmund and powered by more than 11,000 JA SOLAR modules — marks a historic milestone at the intersection of sport, technology and sustainability.
The installation generates over 4 GWh of renewable electricity per year, covering a significant portion of the stadium’s energy needs and reducing annual CO? emissions by approximately 1,700 tons — the equivalent of powering the stadium’s floodlights for about 1,000 football matches.
Beyond its record-breaking scale, the project stands as a powerful demonstration of how large public venues can dramatically reduce their carbon footprint while enhancing energy resilience.
Innovation and Collaboration Behind a Landmark Project
The system utilizes JA SOLAR’s advanced Full Black modules, selected not only for their efficiency and durability but also for their sleek appearance, reflecting the iconic black-and-yellow identity of Borussia Dortmund. Manufactured under the JA SOLAR ITS Supply Chain Standard, the modules ensure traceability and adherence to strict sustainability requirements.

He leads JA SOLAR’s digital communication initiatives, strengthens industry relationships, and drives content strategies that support market expansion and sustainability positioning across Europe.
Petra oversees strategic analysis and marketing initiatives across Europe, integrating internal and external market intelligence to guide JA SOLAR’s regional strategy and high-level decision-making. With extensive experience in European PV market dynamics, she collaborates closely with sales teams, industry partners, and PV associations, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely reporting. Her expertise in strategic partnerships and market research strengthens JA SOLAR’s competitive positioning in a rapidly evolving industry.
Florian is an expert in technical decarbonization and energy management. After completing industrial engineering studies focused on energy economics, he specialized in sustainable optimization and energy efficiency of properties. Previously, he worked as a corporate consultant, BAFA-certified energy auditor, and internal auditor for ISO 50001 management systems. He currently leads the club’s technical decarbonization strategy and its implementation across SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.
Christoph has been with RWE Supply & Trading GmbH since 2022, managing the collaboration between RWE and Borussia Dortmund to modernize SIGNAL IDUNA PARK’s energy infrastructure. His responsibilities cover the entire project lifecycle, from concept and technical design to implementation and stakeholder management. Christoph also serves as PMO for large-scale stationary battery storage projects, actively advancing the energy transition and delivering sustainable solutions while motivating teams to shape the future of energy.
