Waaree Energies Expands Global Solar Module Manufacturing Capacity to 22.3 GW – Machine Maker

Waaree Energies announced a significant increase in its global solar module manufacturing capacity, which now stands at approximately 22.3 GW. This includes 19.7 GW of capacity in India and an additional 2.6 GW in the United States. The expanded capacity follows the commissioning of a new 1.5 GW production line at the company’s Samakhiali facility in Kutch, Gujarat. Alongside module manufacturing, Waaree maintains 5.4 GW of solar cell production capacity, positioning it among India’s largest integrated cell manufacturers.
The latest upgrade builds on the company’s earlier commissioning of two high-efficiency module lines of 750 MW each at the same Samakhiali site, bringing the facility’s total annual module output to 3 GW. The campus is now one of Waaree’s most technologically advanced hubs, equipped with next-generation automation systems, stringent quality protocols, and comprehensive testing infrastructure designed to meet accelerating demand from domestic and global solar markets.
Commenting on the milestone, Sunil Rathi, Executive Director of Waaree Energies Limited, noted that expanding the Samakhiali plant underscores the company’s long-term approach to manufacturing scale-up. He said, “Taking our Samakhiali facility to 3 GW marks a major step in our planned capacity expansion. It enhances our ability to meet the needs of key markets while supporting our mission of delivering dependable, locally manufactured solar technologies at scale.”
The expansion reflects Waaree’s broader strategy to build a fully integrated clean energy portfolio. Beyond modules and cells, the company offers solar inverters, battery storage technologies, green hydrogen solutions, and comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction services. This diversified portfolio enables Waaree to support India’s renewable energy ambitions while providing customers with end-to-end clean energy solutions.
As the global solar industry continues to grow rapidly, Waaree’s expanded manufacturing capabilities strengthen its position as a major supplier to both domestic developers and international markets. The company’s investments in technology, automation, and manufacturing scale are intended to ensure consistent product reliability, competitive pricing, and readiness for the next wave of solar adoption worldwide.
Established in 1990, Waaree Energies Limited is India’s largest solar energy company, driving the global transition to clean power. Headquartered in Mumbai, the company operates advanced manufacturing facilities with a total solar PV module capacity of ~16.7 GW (including 1.3 GW from Indosolar and 1.6 GW in Texas, USA) and solar cell capacity of up to 5.4 GW. With a strong presence across India and in more than 25 countries, Waaree offers a wide portfolio including solar panels, inverters, EPC services, green hydrogen solutions, battery energy storage, green energy infrastructure, and data centers. Focused on sustainability and innovation, Waaree delivers cost-effective, high-quality solutions to power a cleaner and more sustainable future.
