Waaree Energies plans to strengthen partnerships, grow exports, and support resilient solar value chains for India.
India’s push for domestic solar manufacturing has taken another step forward. Waaree Energies has received ALMM List-II approval for 5.25GW of solar cell capacity, strengthening its fully integrated manufacturing model. What does this mean for developers seeking a reliable, policy-compliant solar supply as India scales clean energy?
Waaree Energies Ltd has announced that its high-efficiency solar PV cells are now approved under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II.
As per the third revision of ALMM List-II, notified recently, Waaree’s solar cell facility at Degam, Chikhli, Navsari in Gujarat has been approved for a total capacity of 5.25GW per year. This includes 3,923MW of N-type TOPCon cells and 1,328MW of P-type PERC bifacial cells, highlighting the company’s focus on next-generation technologies.

The approval strengthens Waaree’s position as a fully integrated cell-to-module manufacturer. It offers developers, EPCs and institutional buyers greater confidence in domestic sourcing, supply-chain security and long-term project stability.
Commenting on the development, Sunil Rathi, Executive Director, Waaree, said: “ALMM List-II inclusion for our solar cells is a critical step in strengthening domestic backward integration across India’s solar value chain. While Waaree is already the largest in scale, this milestone reinforces our position at the forefront of solar cell technology as well. By scaling high-efficiency TOPCon and PERC cell manufacturing in India, we are reducing import dependence while giving developers and EPCs greater certainty on quality, supply continuity, and policy compliance. This is how India builds a resilient, self-reliant solar manufacturing ecosystem at scale.”
The ALMM List-II recognition builds on Waaree’s existing ALMM List-I approval for solar modules. The company plans to deepen partnerships, expand exports and support resilient solar value chains aligned with India’s energy security and net-zero ambitions.
