JA SOLAR’s first BESS for C&I goes live in Sicily, Italy – Review Energy

JA SOLAR, a global leader in photovoltaic products and integrated energy solutions, has commissioned a solar-plus-storage microgrid at a modern commercial and industrial (C&I) facility in Sicily, Italy. The project marks a practical implementation of JA SOLAR’s “PV+Storage+X” model, a flexible approach that combines solar generation and battery storage with tailored industry applications to deliver sustainable energy solutions.
The system pairs 3.2 MW of existing solar capacity with 2 MW of newly installed panels and a 2.61 MWh battery. This setup maximizes on-site renewable energy use, strengthens energy resilience, and significantly cuts both operational costs and carbon emissions.

This Sicilian project exemplifies JA SOLAR’s expanding global portfolio of “PV+Storage+X” deployments across sectors including mining, manufacturing, agriculture, and industrial parks. It demonstrates that energy storage delivers the greatest value when fully integrated into real operating conditions. Through this approach, JA SOLAR not only meets current energy demands but also future-proofs investments, enabling participation in advanced energy markets such as virtual power plants (VPPs) and grid-balancing services.
