IMU Hosts Solar Project Commissioning Ceremony – KNIA KRLS Radio

Indianola Municipal Utilities held a commissioning ceremony Friday afternoon, opening their new solar facility with a 4.1-megawatt capacity, empowered by First Solar Series 6 photovoltaic panels, and will generate up to 6.5 million kilowatt hours of IMU customers’ electricity annually. IMU General Manager Chris Desplanques tells KNIA News today was one of the final steps that has been years in the making.
“It’s been a multi-year project involving some USDA grant funding, our partner at Sandhills Energy, a lot of work out of IMU staff and the dedication of the Trustees. It feels great, it’s all coming together. And now we’ve got what was talked about a lot about what could be or what will be, it’s here now and we are very excited to a part of turning it on.”
