Trinasolar sets new tandem cell efficiency and module power output records – PV Tech

Trinasolar has announced that its industrial larger-area perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem solar cell, jointly developed with the Huairou Laboratory, has achieved an efficiency of 32.6%, independently certified by Fraunhofer ISE CalLab, setting a new record on 210mm half-cut tandem solar cells. The 3.1m2 industrial standard-sized tandem module, integrated with tandem cells, has also delivered a peak power output of 865W, certified by TÜV SÜD, setting a world record for module power.

The breakthroughs in both efficiency and power output demonstrate the integration of Trina’s expertise in large-area perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem solar cell manufacturing with advances by Huairou Laboratory in next-generation perovskite absorber and functional layer materials. The achievement also underscores the close collaboration between an industry-leading company and the national research laboratory in addressing key technical challenges.

Trina VP Dr. Yifeng Chen commented: “We are delighted to announce these two new world records in perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem solar technology through this effective collaboration. The achievements mark a milestone for next-generation high-efficiency photovoltaics, highlighting the technology’s enormous potential.”
