Canada: Mitrex has developed the eFacade PRO, a solar wrap that allows buildings to generate electricity from their walls, not just rooftops. The system can be installed on residential, commercial, or industrial structures, turning vertical facades into clean energy sources.
The eFacade PRO uses Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), with panels available in custom sizes up to 11 x 203 cm (39 x 80 inches), producing 5W to 16W per 0.09 m2 (one square foot). Panels feature a ventilated rainscreen design, are fire-resistant, and integrate safely with building structures.
Mitrex offers 48 colour options, including turquoise, brown, apple, purple, and monsoon. Panels can mimic metal finishes, incorporate custom graphics, or match specific architectural styles. The design hides the solar functionality, so facades retain their visual appeal.
By wrapping walls, buildings avoid the need for extra rooftop or land space for solar panels. The eFacade PRO reduces carbon emissions, contributes to clean energy adoption, and allows buildings to continuously generate power over their lifetime.
Three system options are available: CladiShield Rainscreen, Cladifab Prefab, and Claditized Unitized. Panels are low-maintenance and can be cleaned with standard equipment. Proper sizing and installation planning are required to match building facades effectively.
The eFacade PRO combines energy generation, space efficiency, and aesthetics, allowing building owners to produce clean energy while designing facades to reflect their style. It represents a step forward in turning ordinary structures into sustainable power-generating buildings.
