Solar farm cleared at Xerox site – Fingerlakes1.com

Solar panels could soon cover part of the old Xerox campus in Webster after planners signed off on a long-debated proposal, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
The town’s planning board approved a 5-megawatt solar farm on a capped landfill north of Caracas Drive at the Xerox campus. The 19-acre project, called the Webster Solar Garden, will sit on land Xerox still owns under a 25-year lease.
Developers designed the array to avoid ground penetration, added an asphalt landfill cap, and agreed to erosion controls and new tree plantings. A decommissioning bond requires full site restoration if the project ends early. The plan now heads to the Town of Webster board for final approval.
