In 2024, Maxeon ‌had filed a patent infringement lawsuit related to Canadian’s solar-cell technology, TOPCon.
A Maxeon spokesperson told Reuters in a statement that it is evaluating the ruling and the option to appeal.
“We believe we have credible legal grounds to seek reversal of the decision, and of note is the fact that the USPTO’s ruling upheld the validity of one of our TOPCon patent claims.”
Maxeon, which designs ‌and manufactures solar panels, added that it will continue to defend its intellectual property rights.
