Websol Energy System Limited has received approval from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for its proposed greenfield 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module manufacturing facility at the MPSEZ Naidupeta. The approval, issued through the state’s Industries & Commerce Department, follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board in November 2025. The project will be developed within the Multi-Product Special Economic Zone at Naidupeta.
As part of the approval, the state government has extended an incentive package covering land allotment, fixed capital investment subsidies, power tariff reimbursement, exemption from electricity duty, subsidies on industrial water charges, and relief from stamp duty and registration fees. Websol also plans to develop a 100 MW captive solar power plant alongside the manufacturing facility. The captive unit is intended to ensure reliable access to renewable energy for operations while supporting cost efficiencies.
Commenting on the approval, Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director of Websol Energy System Limited, said the project aligns with India’s renewable energy targets and the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. He added that Andhra Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem offers a strong platform for scaling solar manufacturing capacity.
Websol is among India’s early manufacturers of solar photovoltaic cells and modules and specialises in high-efficiency products based on Mono PERC technology. The company primarily supplies solar cells to domestic module manufacturers to support compliance with Domestic Content Requirement norms, while its modules serve both Indian and overseas markets.
The company currently operates a fully modernised facility in the Falta Special Economic Zone, West Bengal, with installed capacities of 1,200 MW for solar cells and 550 MW for modules. Its integrated manufacturing model enables tighter supply chain control and operational flexibility.
