SME businesses in Three Rivers can bid for solar panel grants – watfordobserver.co.uk

Small and medium-sized businesses in Three Rivers will soon be able to apply for funding to install solar panels and batteries.
Eligible businesses will be able to receive up to £3,000 each from the fund on the condition that they put forward, on top of that funding, 75% of the requested figure themselves.
Applications will open from February 6, with all applications judged on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis.
Initially, £25,000 will be available for the scheme, coming from funds allocated to climate change provisions in the budget for this financial year. Depending on the scheme’s initial success, a further £25,000 may then be available from the 2026/27 budget.
A report prepared by officers said the scheme would enable businesses “to be more financially stable”, as well as help to reduce carbon emissions across the district.
Grants will be available to businesses with premises within Three Rivers and, according to a report, will be “specifically targeted towards industrial estates due to their potential for large-scale installations”.
The report continues: “Applicants will be encouraged to use local installers wherever possible, to maximise local economic benefit.
“To be deemed eligible for the grant, all applicants must complete Three Rivers District Council’s business energy survey … and provide at least two Microgeneration Certification Scheme accredited installer quotes.”
Plans for the scheme were approved at a policy and resources committee meeting yesterday (Monday, January 26).
