Firefighters battle 30-acre brush fire at Lake Placid solar farm – mysuncoast.com

LAKE PLACID, Fla. (WWSB) – Firefighters battled a 30-acre brush fire Tuesday night at the Next Gen solar farm, according to Highlands County Fire Rescue.
Fire officials said units from stations 39 and 41 and Battalion 2 were on scene as of 10:10 p.m.

Wednesday morning, officials said forestry crews remained on scene. The solar farm is under construction, and its equipment is not operational.
Officials said the solar panels were not on fire. The fire burned the grass underneath the panels, and that portion was out. A small section in an empty field was still burning as of 9 a.m.
