Jupiter International Expands Solar Capacity with Himachal Facility| – Chemical Industry Digest

Jupiter International commissioned its third solar cell manufacturing facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. With this expansion, the company marks a significant milestone in its capacity scaling strategy and strengthens its position in India’s fast-growing renewable energy sector. The facility has been developed through its subsidiary, Jupiter Solartech, reinforcing the group’s integrated solar manufacturing roadmap.
The newly commissioned Unit-III adds 1 GW of mono PERC solar cell capacity to Jupiter’s existing 959 MW production base. As a result, the company’s total installed capacity now stands at nearly two GW. The plant focuses on high-efficiency mono PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) technology. This technology delivers improved energy conversion efficiency and aligns with global quality and productivity benchmarks. Moreover, the expansion positions Jupiter to cater to rising domestic and international demand for high-performance solar cells.
In addition to scaling mono PERC production, Jupiter is accelerating its transition toward next-generation solar technologies. The company is currently setting up a 1.25 GW TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar cell manufacturing line. By investing in advanced TOPCon technology, Jupiter aims to enhance cell efficiency, reduce energy losses, and future-proof its manufacturing portfolio against evolving global standards.
Alok Garodia, Chairman and Managing Director of Jupiter International, emphasised the strategic importance of the new unit. He described the commissioning of Unit-III at Baddi as a major milestone in the company’s journey to scale solar manufacturing capabilities. He further stated that the expansion reinforces Jupiter’s long-term vision of delivering world-class clean energy technologies and supporting India’s renewable energy transition.
As reported by projectstoday.com, overall, the commissioning of the third unit reflects Jupiter International’s commitment to scaling high-efficiency solar cell production in India. By combining mono PERC capacity expansion with upcoming TOPCon technology investments, the company is positioning itself as a competitive player in both domestic and global solar markets.
