ENERGY-SAVING solar panels can be installed on the roof of a village hall in Berwickshire, Scottish Borders Council has deemed.
The council has granted a certificate of lawfulness for the work at Hutton Village Hall.
The hall is a modern community building built around 20 years ago featuring a pitched, blue-coloured metal roof.

The application sought to determine that 18 PV panels could lawfully be installed on the roof of the building without approval via a formal planning application.
A report approving the application, from SBC planning officer Paul Duncan, states: “The site is not within a conservation area or the curtilage of a listed building.

“Nor is the site within three kilometres of an aerodrome or technical site, or within a national scenic area, a historic garden or designed landscape, a National Park or a World Heritage Site.”
