ACCIONA Energía, a Spain-based developer and operator of renewable energy projects, has installed a 1.56 MW PV system at GrafTech’s production facility in Ororbia, Navarra, Spain. The installation became operational in mid-February and is expected to generate approximately 2 GWh of electricity annually for the industrial facility’s consumption. The photovoltaic system has been designed for full on-site consumption and does not export electricity to the grid due to the plant’s energy demand. The companies have established a 15-year on-site PPA under an energy-as-a-service model governing electricity supply and system operations. Under this agreement, ACCIONA Energía has undertaken investment, installation, operation and maintenance while GrafTech has contracted long-term renewable electricity supply. The PV installation spans about 11,500 square meters across rooftops and parking canopies and incorporates more than 2,300 bifacial modules.
