Chinese battery manufacturer Sigenergy has introduced a new energy storage product designed for balcony photovoltaic installations, according to a report from pv magazine. The system, unveiled at a trade fair in Italy, integrates a 2.68 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and features four maximum power point trackers capable of handling photovoltaic input of up to 4 kW.
The unit provides an 800-watt grid-connected output compliant with plug-and-play standards and a separate 1.2 kW backup output for critical loads during power interruptions. With dimensions of 460 by 215 by 225 millimeters and a weight of 25 kilograms, the IP66-rated product is intended for outdoor installation and includes a built-in heating function.
Its battery capacity is scalable, allowing for expansion with additional modules to reach a total of 18 kWh per tower for larger residential applications. The system offers a maximum charge power of 1.8 kW and a maximum discharge power of 1.2 kW. An optional Wi-Fi meter is available to manage excess power exports by adjusting output to match household consumption.
Connectivity is supported through dual-band Wi-Fi 6 for integration with modern routers, and the platform can incorporate additional optimizers for more complex installation scenarios. The manufacturer noted the system’s photovoltaic input capacity is nearly double that of many competing balcony solutions.
