New solar installation at Crown’s Seville plant advances renewable energy goals
A new photovoltaic solar energy system at Crown Packaging Manufacturing, Spain’s beverage can manufacture plant in Seville, has been installed. This perfectly aligns with the firm’s ongoing mission to boost the use of renewable energy throughout the company’s global operations.
As a part of Crown’s larger sustainability plan, this installation aims to achieve 100 per cent renewable electricity across all its global operations by 2040 through the Twentyby30 initiative. The Seville project, concerning this goal, helps in enhancing on-site renewable energy production at the plant.

Financial highlights
For the financials, the European Union, through the NextGenerationEU Fund, will be backing this project, which is part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The initiative successfully obtained EUR 201,125.16 in public funding to help install photovoltaic solar panels at the facility.
This funding comes from an incentive program designed to encourage self-consumption of renewable energy sources. It’s managed by the regional government, the Junta de Andalucía and involves the Andalusian Energy Agency along with the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE).

Operational highlights
Given that it’s completely operating now, the solar system may produce about 4,004,198 kWh of renewable electricity each year. This will cover roughly 12 per cent of the plant’s annual electricity needs, helping to lessen our dependence on traditional energy sources.
The project showcases Crown’s commitment to decarbonisation at the site level, while also supporting its wider goal of boosting renewable energy use throughout its global manufacturing network.
