According to a report from SolarPowerWorldOnline, SolaTrim has released a new product line designed to shield homes and solar installations from wildfire risks. The system, named SolEmber, is a mesh-based skirting installed around the perimeter of rooftop solar arrays on sloped roofs to stop embers from entering the space beneath the panels.
The company states that the majority of structures lost in wildfires catch fire from embers rather than direct flame contact. The product utilizes a technology called FireStorm EmberMesh to create a code-compliant barrier that also blocks wildfire fuel and animal debris from collecting under solar equipment.
SolaTrim describes the product as a practical and essential defensive measure for homeowners, builders, and communities. A company executive noted that wildfire seasons have become longer and more destructive, positioning this launch as part of SolaTrim’s ongoing focus on safety, innovation, and securing renewable energy infrastructure.
The SolEmber shield is constructed from 304 stainless steel and features a black powder coat finish. It carries certifications for use in wildland-urban interface areas, meets specific ASTM testing standards, holds a Class A fire rating, and complies with established wildfire construction codes.
