Senate delays vote on solar panel facility moratorium – 1819 News

MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Senate delayed a vote on Tuesday that would put a temporary moratorium on solar power facilities in Alabama.
The bill by State Sen. Greg Albritton (R-Range) would prohibit the construction and operation of new solar power facilities for one year.
Albritton said in committee last week that the bill doesn’t apply to projects already under construction.
The Senate voted to carry the bill over on Tuesday night after hours of Democratic filibustering of earlier bills.
“This is an important bill for South Alabama, and for me, but under the circumstances and such, I’ll move to carry it over,” Albritton said on the Senate floor on Tuesday.
