According to a report from Power-Technology, Goldbeck Solar Polska has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for a large photovoltaic project in Poland’s West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The contract covers the Sidlowo-Kikowo-Dobrowo power plants, which will have a combined installed capacity of 722 megawatts-peak.
The agreement includes responsibility for building associated high-voltage and medium-voltage substations, cable routes, and grid connection infrastructure. This involves a connection through an intermediate substation designated STR LKO. The project consists of three primary facilities: Sidlowo with 290MWp, Kikowo with 235MWp, and Dobrowo with 197MWp.
Upon completion, the solar farm is expected to be the largest of its kind in Europe by capacity. It will also be the first large-scale photovoltaic installation in Poland to connect directly to the national operator’s 400kV high-voltage transmission network.
As the general contractor, the company will manage all stages from initial design through procurement, construction, and final commissioning. The development is noted as a key move in Poland’s shift toward renewable energy sources, supporting national objectives for a cleaner electricity mix.
The initiative is part of a wider strategic effort involving Optima Wind, Virya Energy, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. These partners are establishing a new renewable energy platform called Virya Renewables Poland, which aims to develop a pipeline of projects totaling over two gigawatts across the country.
