Hoa Phat Expands Rooftop Solar Project To Boost Green Steel Production In Vietnam – SolarQuarter

Hoa Phat Group has started the second phase of its rooftop solar power project, marking an important step toward cleaner and more reliable energy use in its operations. The company, known as Vietnam’s largest steel producer, is expanding its solar capacity to reduce dependence on traditional power sources and support long-term sustainability goals.
Under this new phase, solar panels will be installed across the rooftops of key facilities, including the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Integrated Complex and other production plants located in northern and central Vietnam. These installations are expected to generate a significant amount of electricity for internal use, helping the company maintain a stable power supply for its energy-intensive steel manufacturing processes.
The move is part of Hoa Phat’s broader strategy to improve energy efficiency and align with global environmental standards. By using rooftop space that would otherwise remain unused, the company is turning existing infrastructure into a productive source of renewable energy. This not only reduces operational costs over time but also cuts greenhouse gas emissions linked to steel production.
The company is also responding to growing international demand for environmentally responsible products. Steel produced with lower carbon emissions, often referred to as “green steel,” is becoming increasingly important in global markets. Through its solar expansion, Hoa Phat aims to strengthen its position as a sustainable manufacturer while meeting these evolving market expectations.
The project uses advanced solar technologies designed to perform efficiently under different weather conditions. To ensure quality and safety, Hoa Phat is working with experienced energy contractors during the installation process. This phase builds on the success of the earlier stage of the project, which demonstrated that renewable energy can be effectively integrated into large-scale industrial operations.
In addition to solar power, the company is also investing in other energy-saving solutions. These include heat recovery systems that capture waste heat from blast furnaces and convert it into usable electricity. Such efforts reflect a comprehensive approach to energy management and resource optimization.
With this expansion, Hoa Phat is taking a clear step toward reducing its environmental impact while improving energy security. The initiative highlights how heavy industries can adopt cleaner technologies without compromising productivity, setting an example for sustainable industrial development in the region.
