Zhong Baoshen, Chairman of LONGi, participated in a China-Australia Entrepreneur Dialogue during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference. According to a report from Hydrogen Central, the dialogue focused on green development cooperation. The event was held from March 24 to March 27, 2026, in Hainan.
During the discussions, Zhong Baoshen referenced a memorandum of understanding signed in June 2024 between China and Australia concerning their free trade agreement. He indicated this development has lowered costs for solar projects in Australia. LONGi is supporting Australia’s aim to have 82% renewable energy in its electricity mix by 2030 with its high-efficiency BC modules and BIPV products. Data from 2024 indicated renewables supplied 46% of Australia’s electricity, with solar power providing 19.6% of that total.
Zhong Baoshen detailed LONGi’s integrated Solar-Storage-Hydrogen strategy to Australian partners. He explained that photovoltaics serve as the creator of clean energy, energy storage acts as a stabilizer for the power system, and hydrogen functions as a regulator for long-duration storage and industrial decarbonization. The strategy is designed to address grid integration challenges and the systemic nature of the energy transition.
He stated that LONGi has completed a strategic upgrade from a photovoltaic company to a comprehensive energy solution provider. This month, the company was included on BloombergNEF’s Tier 1 list for both photovoltaic and energy storage sectors simultaneously for the first time.
Regarding cooperation, Zhong Baoshen expressed support for establishing unified green standards between China and Australia and for promoting ESG financial instruments like green bonds. He highlighted LONGi’s ongoing technical collaboration with the University of New South Wales, which began with an agreement in 2018, and mentioned the inclusion of LONGi’s world records in solar cell efficiency tables led by Professor Martin Green.
To meet its 2030 renewable target, Australia requires an estimated annual addition of 7.2 gigawatts of new capacity. Zhong Baoshen stated that LONGi will support market growth with its products and provide comprehensive solutions covering power generation, storage, and consumption through its full-value-chain strategy.
