Australia’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water has issued a request for tender for a national solar panel recycling pilot. The program will collect up to 250,000 decommissioned solar panels from around 100 sites across Australia. The selected supplier will manage planning, collection, transport, aggregation and recycling services. The project will also include development of aggregation points and subcontractor engagement through competitive processes. The supplier will design training modules for safe handling of decommissioned panels. A data monitoring and reporting system will also be developed. The contract is expected to begin in May 2026 and run until 30 June 2027, with possible extensions. The tender closes on 24 April 2026.
