Ukraine installs solar panels in 56 hospitals, strengthening medical energy resilience – mezha.net

More than 50 hospitals now generate power onsite, and dozens more are under construction, promising increased resilience for frontline and regional healthcare facilities.

Since the start of the “Ray of Hope” program, which involves installing solar panels in medical facilities, 56 hospitals have strengthened their energy independence.
The official Telegram channel of the Ministry of Energy informs about the next steps within the framework of the initiative.
“Since the launch of the project ‘Ray of Hope’, solar power plants have already been installed and are generating electricity in 56 health care facilities, 14 of them in frontline regions. The total capacity of installed equipment is 5,219 kW”

In addition, work continues at 83 hospitals, three of which are at the final stage. Another 123 medical facilities are undergoing tender procedures.
They also report that the Netherlands, through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, will transfer 35 million euros to the “Ray of Hope” initiative.
The “Ray of Hope” program is a joint initiative of the European Commission, the Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Health, implemented with funding from the Ukraine Energy Support Fund since March 2023.
These steps strengthen the energy independence of medical facilities, increase the resilience of the health care system, and reduce dependence on external energy sources.
