Bowling Green looks to replace wind turbines with solar panels – WTVG

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WTVG) – Bowling Green is looking to replace its wind turbines with solar power.
About 80 acres of solar panels would go up as the city’s turbines come down. The solar field would generate 10 to 12 megawatts of power for around 2,000 homes.
If passed, the new fields will sit on land leased from BGSU and Principle Business Enterprises, with panels from First Solar. One field will be located on Newton Road and a second will be on South Devils Hole.
The ordinance goes to council next week for its first hearing.
If passed, construction is expected to start later this year.
