Solar panels investigated after roof catches fire in Middletown – Asbury Park Press

MIDDLETOWN — Firefighters are investigating whether solar panels were involved in a roof fire on a house in Middletown Sunday, officials said. 
The Middletown Township Fire Department arrived at a home near East Road in the Belford neighborhood around 2:16 pm. Fire was seen on the roof, “possibly involving solar panels,” spokesman Rob Allen said in a press release. 
Firefighters from the Independent Fire Company of Belford and the Belford Engine Fire Company knocked down the fire. No injuries were reported, according to the press release. 
Middletown Fire Company No. 1, Port Monmouth Fire Company, Middletown Township Fire Department Safety Unit and Air Unit, Port Monmouth First Aid Squad and EMS Chief Craig Schwartz also responded to the call, according to the press release. 
The Middletown Township Fire Prevention Office is investigating the fire. Edward “Buddy” Skelly is leading the investigation, according to the press release.
