The oldest Episcopal church on the West Coast, which is located in San Francisco, is now going solar.

Church leaders at Trinity St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Gough Street said they’ve commissioned a company to install 47 solar panels on the historic structure.

When the project is done, it’s expected to save the church more than $261,000 in electricity bills.
They said they plan to reinvest those savings into social justice and food insecurity programs, as well as efforts to clean up local neighborhoods.
The church was established in 1849.
