The issue at hand was an alleged ethics rule violation. Town officials said that Haskell violated rules by speaking out against a solar farm that abuts his property while identifying himself as fire chief during the public meetings.
Town leadership claimed that the financial interest Haskell had meant he should not have partaken in discussions about the solar farm.
Haskell responded to the claims, saying that his concerns were about safety and fire risk.
“I have nothing to gain and nothing to lose,” Haskell said. “The project’s already built there’s nothing I could do that would render me whole as to the damage that’s already been done.”
Haskell said he plans to pursue legal action against the town.
