COHO Alternative Energy Committee - Cohasset, MA
April 24, 2026 Submitted By The Alternative Energy Committee
The Town of Cohasset marked Earth Day with the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a school-based solar energy project, continuing local efforts to expand the use of renewable energy in the community.
The Town is seeking a qualified developer to design, install, own, and operate a solar photovoltaic system on the Osgood & Deer Hill school property. The project is intended to generate clean energy to offset municipal electricity use, reduce long-term costs, and support Cohasset’s broader climate goals. Under the proposed structure, the selected partner would enter into a long-term lease agreement with the Town to develop and maintain the system, with benefits delivered through on-site energy use or utility credits.
The initiative reflects an ongoing effort to make thoughtful use of Town-owned land while investing in infrastructure that supports both environmental sustainability and fiscal responsibility.
As municipalities across Massachusetts continue to pursue renewable energy projects, Cohasset’s Earth Day RFP release highlights a growing trend of local governments advancing climate initiatives through innovative partnerships.
Proposals are due May 26, 2026. Additional information is available https://www.cohassetma.gov/bids.aspx?bidID=73
