Iberdrola has completed the first phase of the Noronha Verde project in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil. The company installed 4,800 solar panels, representing 15% of the planned photovoltaic facility. Testing has begun to supply electricity from the project to the island’s grid. Developed through Neoenergia, the project includes more than 30,000 solar panels, 22 MWp of capacity, and 49 MWh of battery storage. The BRL 350 million project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Once operational, the system is expected to supply electricity equivalent to around 9,000 homes and reduce dependence on biodiesel generation.
