GameChange Solar has partnered with First Solar to support the deployment of domestically manufactured thin-film solar modules in India. In a press release, GameChange Solar, a global supplier of solar trackers and fixed-tilt racking technology, said the partnership builds on two utility-scale projects in India where First Solar’s modules have already been deployed on GameChange Solar’s Genius Tracker™ systems.
According to GameChange Solar, these projects have been operational for over a year, delivering uptime of nearly 99.8% and providing on-ground validation of the compatibility between First Solar’s modules and GameChange Solar’s tracker platform.
The collaboration comes as India moves towards increased adoption of domestically manufactured solar modules under evolving regulatory frameworks such as the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) and the Approved List of Cell Manufacturers (ALCM).
With a limited pool of manufacturers able to meet these requirements, the availability of compliant suppliers has become a critical factor for project execution. First Solar’s established manufacturing presence in India is expected to help reduce compliance-related uncertainty and mitigate supply chain risks for developers.
Over the past year, GameChange Solar has invested in research, development, and engineering to ensure compatibility between its tracker systems and First Solar’s India-manufactured modules. This includes investments in its Series 7 platform, with design optimisation specifically tailored for GameChange Solar’s tracker systems. 
The Series 7, which is what First Solar’s Perrysburg (Ohio) and Chennai (India) factories produce, measures 2,890mm × 1,232mm — making it significantly taller than a G12 module but slightly narrower.
The power output is 530–560W per module with an efficiency of approximately 19.5–20.5%. This is lower watt-per-module than a G12 TOPCon panel, but the form factor difference is the critical design variable.
With both companies continuing to expand their presence in the Indian market, the partnership is expected to support the next phase of utility-scale solar deployment in the country.
