GameChange Solar has entered into a strategic partnership with First Solar, Inc. to support deployment of domestically manufactured thin-film solar modules in India.
The collaboration builds on two utility-scale solar projects in India where First Solar’s modules have already been deployed on GameChange Solar’s Genius Tracker™ systems. According to the companies, the projects have operated for more than a year with uptime of nearly 99.8%, validating the compatibility between the tracker systems and First Solar’s modules.
The partnership comes amid India’s push for greater use of locally manufactured solar equipment under regulatory frameworks such as the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) and the Approved List of Cell Manufacturers (ALCM). With a limited number of manufacturers currently meeting these requirements, First Solar’s manufacturing presence in India is expected to help developers address compliance requirements and reduce supply chain risks.
Over the past year, GameChange Solar said it has invested in research, development, and engineering work to align its tracker systems with First Solar’s India-manufactured modules, including the Series 7 platform. The companies said the effort involved design optimization tailored specifically for GameChange Solar’s tracker architecture.
The Series 7 modules, manufactured at First Solar’s facilities in Perrysburg, Ohio and Chennai, measure 2,890 mm × 1,232 mm. The modules offer power output ranging from 530 W to 560 W with efficiency levels of around 19.5% to 20.5%.

Both companies said they are continuing to expand their presence in India’s solar sector, with the partnership expected to support future utility-scale solar deployment.
