Solar Power Production up by 44% y/y in Q1 – Albanian Daily News

Solar power generation increased during the first quarter of the year, compared to the same period a year earlier. Data published by INSTAT show that photovoltaic power plants produced 254 gWh of electricity, up from 176 gWh in the same period a year earlier, marking an increase of 44%.
According to the electricity balance, this category represented about 7% of net domestic production during the first quarter of the year, in a period when total domestic production reached 3,647 gWh, Scan TV reported on Wednesday.
The increase comes at a time when solar energy is expanding rapidly in the country. Data from the Energy Regulatory Authority show that the number of photovoltaic power plants has increased from just 10 in 2020 to 53 in 2025, while installed capacities have expanded from 21 MW to 631 MW in the same period.
The expansion of capacities has also brought about a significant increase in production. From around 32 thousand MWh of energy produced by photovoltaic plants in 2020, production has reached over 832 thousand MWh in 2025, reflecting the increase in investments in solar energy and the entry into operation of new projects.
