I am writing in response to the May 7 letter related to camp electrical power. The writer, Mike Norton, made it sound so simple for the camps to switch to solar power. The main issue here is the state allowing the electric utility to abandon the camps after providing power for decades.
The letter failed to mention the approximate $30,000 cost to each camp, let alone the potential that someone would steal their system. The utility should be made to pay, install and maintain these solar systems as camp compensation.
