City of Moline moves forward with solar panel project – KWQC

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) – The City of Moline is moving forward with a project to install solar panels south of the Quad City Airport.
In Tuesday’s city council meeting, a resolution passed for a Solar Facility Site Lease Agreement with Community Power Group, LLC., out of Delaware.
The city will lease a portion of city-owned property to allow the company to develop, construct, own, operate and maintain solar panels and a storage facility for a 25-year base period with certain specified extensions, the meeting agenda said.
Community Power Group, LLC has agreed to an annual operating rent price of $2000 per acre with an annual escalation of two per cent per year, the city said.
The city owns three large farm properties south of the Quad City Airport, which are currently used for farming.
