Solarize Lexington can help households go solar – City of Lexington, Kentucky (.gov)

Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 4:21 p.m.
Solarize Lexington is back! This City program helps households reduce electricity use by making it easier and less expensive to install solar panels.
“Solarize Lexington is an outstanding resource for residents to learn about solar energy and have solar panels safely installed on their home at a discounted rate,” Mayor Linda Gorton said. “This program helps Lexington homeowners lower their energy costs, reduce their dependence on the electric grid, and champions a more sustainable future for our community.”
Solarize Lexington provides residents with a step-by-step walk-through of the solar installation process. Households are connected to a vetted solar installer and are eligible for a discounted rate of 20%. There is no grant funding available this year.
The program is open to all homeowners. Other property owners, such as non-profits, small businesses and places of worship, may also participate. If you are interested in Solarize Lexington, fill out the online interest form. The Solarize Lexington team will use this information for a free solar assessment of your property to see if your roof is a good fit for solar. If it is, your information will be shared with our only solar installer, Solar Energy Solutions. If your roof is not a good fit for solar panels, the reason(s) will be shared with you. Filling out the form does not mean you must participate in the program or buy anything.
No one from the Solarize Lexington team will contact you unless you’ve filled out the online interest form. The team will never demand immediate payment or pressure you to make decisions quickly.
Solarize Lexington interest forms must be completed by Oct. 2. Contracts must be in place by Oct. 16. Installation must be completed by the end of 2026. Participants are responsible for the (discounted) cost of solar panels and installation. All solar installations are individual contracts between the property owner and the solar installer. The City will not assume any liability related to the installation.
Solarize Lexington has now expanded to the surrounding counties of Clark, Scott, Bourbon, Jessamine and Woodford. These counties are part of the Lexington-Fayette County Metropolitan Statistical Area. Solarize Lexington was included in the Regional Priority Climate Action Plan for the Lexington-Fayette County MSA as an implementation-ready program. Lexington has restructured its program to include all six counties in the MSA.
