METROPOLIS — The Massac County Commission held a special-called meeting Monday, June 15, to consider SB Energy’s special use permit application to locate a commercial solar energy facility in Massac County.
During the 20-minute meeting, the commission heard public comment and comment from attorney Rick Abell of Kruger & Abell Law Firm, which represents Massac County on solar issues, and State’s Attorney Josh Stratemeyer before voting unanimously to deny the permit, citing the evidence produced at an April 14 public hearing did not adequately address the factors set forth in the solar farm ordinance the county adopted in 2023.
