Re “State may have a solution for water and clean power” (June 23): It really dismays me when I see words like “economic feasibility” when it comes to programs that can increase the water supply or increase renewable energy. In these cases, those words often mean, “We’re not going to look at non-tangible benefits, like mitigating climate change, only financial sheets’ bottom lines.”
And even if only a quarter of the state’s canals are covered with solar panels, that’s equivalent to one Diablo Canyon. Saddle some community battery storage alongside and, “voilà” — we skate through the peak demand, obviating the need for curtailment.
