Korkia Renewables Development Sweden is the Swedish arm of Korkia, a Finnish renewable energy company that invests and develops projects in renewables, and has received the green light from the environmental agency to build the Smedjebacken hybrid project in the Swedish region of Dalarna. The permit concerns the development of 150 MW solar photovoltaic system with 150 MW/600 MWh battery storage system. Upon implementation, the project will generate 150 GWh electricity annually. In addition, the project will increase the flexibility of the electricity system of Sweden and provide electricity for tens of thousands of consumers. Korkia said the legally binding permit, along with a secured grid connection, has moved the project closer to Ready-to-Build status.
